This year 5/6 will be split into 4 classes each morning (two year 5 and two year 6) pupils in year 5 will have Mr Kelly for Maths and Mr Taylor for their English lessons. Pupils in year 6 will have Mr Usher for Maths and Mrs Wilson for their English lessons. Guided reading and spellings will also be taught by pupils morning teachers.
The school day begins promptly at 8:40am, with first lessons beginning after registration at 8:45am. Our school day ends at 3:00pm.
We be held on a Monday and Friday afternoon. Please ensure full PE kits are in on these days (including trainers for Wednesdays outdoor session)

All children have individual reading books and reading logs and are expected to read independently or with an adult each night. This will enable children to widen their vocabulary and creatve potential, which will help them also develop their writing skills.
Pupils should write a daily comment in their reading logs given an update of how they are getting on with their book. This could include: likes, dislikes; questions that are arising; any predictions or problems they can foretell etc. They should also complete a weekly homework task that is within their reading record.
Please could parents/carers ensure that they sign children's reading logs each week to say they have heard or seen them read at home.
Learning logs will be given out each term for ongoing home learning.
Chldren are required to bring their learning logs in every Friday to share with their classmates and teacher.
These will be based on the class topic for each term and give children the opportunity to to record their knowledge and understanding, of each weeks learning, in whichever way they feel most helpful. An overview of the topic and suggestions for subject area learning will be in the fromt of each book. Some weeks children will be given specific learning activites to explore, these will be stuck in their books. As a general requirement, children should challenge themselves with a minimum of two learning activites each week and should always try to practice the English and maths skills they have learnt during the week within their activities.
For example: if children have varying sentence structure and writing diary extracts in lessons, they should challenge themselves to indepepndently practice these skills within their learning logs.
Spellings will be given out by children's morning teachers every Friday and their learning will be assessed the following Friday. Please support your child to practice and learn these spellings, not just in lists, but also in the context of sentences, to allow them to practice applying their skills.
Class IPC Topic:
This term we are learning about The Tudors. Children will be developing their historical skills be using different sources to investigate Tudor history. This will include: The War of the Roses, Henry VII and his wives, sport, exploration and life in Tudor time.
