When are the P.E. slots each week?
Our P.E. slots are on a Thursday and a Friday each week.
When do reading records and reading books need bringing into school?
The children should keep their reading records up to date and bring them, and their reading book, in every day even if they have not finished their book. We would like parents listen to their child read, initial their reading record and to discuss their book with them at least once a week. Activities in the reading logs can be completed as a when your child wants to.
What are the activities for home learning?
Each week:
Children should have their login information for TimesTables Rockstars - this will be stuck inside the front or back cover of their Reading Log. Please let us know if you need another copy.
This term, our learning will focus on the theme of transformation. Children will explore the big questions: How can I transform my energy for the good of others? and How can energy transform? Through Bible stories and discussions, we’ll learn about the experiences of the disciples after Jesus’ resurrection, the gifts given by the Holy Spirit, and how Saul’s life was transformed to become Paul, a follower of Jesus. We’ll also discover how Paul encouraged others to live in God’s way, what the fruits of the Holy Spirit are, and how the Holy Spirit can help transform people’s lives.
This term, children will focus on calculating the perimeter of rectangles, polygons, and more complex rectilinear shapes. They’ll also investigate how to find the area of rectangles and compound shapes, as well as improve their ability to estimate area.
In statistics, children will learn how to draw and interpret line graphs. They’ll also gain skills in reading different types of tables, including two-way tables, and develop the ability to analyse data and draw conclusions from it.
The study of shapes will include a deeper dive into angles, where children will learn to recognise, estimate, measure and classify them. They will calculate angles on a straight line and around a point, while also practising the accurate drawing of lines and angles. The topic will explore both regular and irregular polygons, focusing on the relationship between lengths and angles in various shapes.
Children will begin by reading and plotting coordinates on a grid, then move on to solving problems using coordinates. They’ll explore translation, including translating shapes with coordinates and learn about lines of symmetry. Additionally, they’ll practise reflecting shapes across both horizontal and vertical lines.
In this unit, the children will learn about the different systems in the human body, such as the digestive and circulatory systems. We’ll explore how these systems work together and how to keep our bodies healthy. The students will engage in hands-on activities and discussions to reinforce their understanding.
During this unit, we’ll explore ecosystems and the various living things that inhabit them. The children will study how organisms interact with each other and their environment. They'll learn about habitats, food chains, and the importance of biodiversity, all while conducting exciting investigations.
