Ms M McGuire - Head Teacher

I am Mrs McGuire the head teacher of St Mary’s. I have been a teacher for a long time and worked across Manchester and for the Local Authority as a school adviser before coming to St Mary’s. I love maths and reading and particularly enjoy the creative side of the curriculum. My job is to keep everyone safe, make sure they get to learn everything they should and to live their lives as good Catholics following the teachings of Jesus. When I’m not at school I like to scuba dive, watch football and go to concerts and theme parks with my family.

My favourite article from the UNCRC:

It is really hard to choose one of the articles as a favourite - but if I had to I would choose article 12: respect for the views of the child. Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. This right applies at all times, for example during immigration proceedings, housing decisions or the child's day-to-day home life.

The reason I would choose this is that I sometimes think adults don't realise that it is really important to take children's feelings into account - we all know how we feel in our hearts, regardless of our age, and the ability to communicate that and have it taken seriously is really important.
